Aboriginal Dot Painting

L.I. To create art that tells a story using traditional methods

For art I did aboriginal art with dots with cottenbuds and paint. I used the cottenbuds to make dots and lines on my art work. After painting the inside I did the out side with symbols to tell a story.

The symbols I used were from Australia by the Aboriginal they traveled in canoes. They lived there 40, 000 years ago. They were also the only people that lives in Australia.

By making small dots are easy yo just need to get a small amount of paint on the cottenbud and to make a big to put a little bit more paint.  I also used chalk to out line the kangaroo.  I used many symbols on the out side and dots on the inside of the kangaroo.

Before I did it on a black piece of paper I did some practicing on a white piece of paper to practice my dots and lines.

Adjectives

There are 3 kinds of adjectives that people use absolute, comparative and superlative.

Absolute means describing something, for example tall.

Comparative means comparing something to another, for example taller.

Superlative means something that is on top, for example tallest.

Properties of Sound

L.I. To observe the properties of sound

Sound is something people can hear but when it goes feather away then it will get weaker and we wont be able to hear it anymore. Sound can also travel around corners but the sound on top bottom are basically the same.

Sound can also be pretty much the same when just by moving a meter away by left, right, above, front and behind.

Properties of Sound

PROPERTY: a characteristic that something is known by. For example, a property of ripe strawberries is that their colour is red.

OBSERVE: to watch and remember what happened.

EXPERIMENT: to observe what happens to something when different conditions are
imposed on it.

CONDITION: a state of being.

IMPOSE: to make someone or something do something.

HYPOTHESIS: a prediction or evidence based guess that can be tested to find the truth.

What properties of sound can you figure out? There will be a bunch you can figure out by
just experimenting with sound. Watch the video to find out how to do the experiment.

Fill out this table with your observations and hypotheses about the properties of sound.
You will need to use a sound meter like this free online meter by Youlean.

Crocodiles Christmas Sandals

L.I. To use and understand vocabulary

Today for reading I read a story about crocodiles Christmas sandals. After reading the book I put in adjectives and verbs and descriptive language. Then I took the verbs and put then into  past present and future tense.

7Summarising the Main Idea
Good readers notice keywords.  Here are some clues to help you find key words:
  • Key words are directly connected to the topic
  • Key words are often repeated in the title and the text
  • A key word helps you to remember an important idea

Use this table to help you summarise the main ideas in a text in your own words.  It is important that you use your own words to show your understanding and to avoid plagiarism.  If you don’t know what some words mean, look them up.

Measurement

L.I. To explore standard forms of length

Length is how long a object is and there are four kinds of measurements centimeters, millimeters, meters and kilometers.

What we can use to measure is a tap, ruler and measurement.  How to convert to millimeters is by multiply 10 or to convert to meters is by dividing 100. Estimating is to guess on what the object would be.

Light and Sound

L.I. To demonstrate are prior knowledge

I found images of light and sound. I put 20 images on the google drawing.

There were lots of thing that made light and sound. I used pixabay to find pictures. When i put pictures on the drawing I connected lines to light or sound after that I wrote some sentences in the boxes to explain why they make light or sound.

After that I moved the images to make the tidy. Then then I made them smaller to fit in the images in the google drawing.

After putting 20 images on the google drawing I got feed back and after getting feed back i fixed the mistakes i made.

Measurement

Measurement has two forms; Standard metric, imperial and non standard.

Standard metric measurement includes length, weight and volume. These are seasured in mm, c, M and km. G, kg, t. Ml and L. Measurement can also be done with non standard item as shown in the attached google presentation.

Measurment is using a range of tools to find information out about an object.

LI: To use non standard forms to measure common items.
