Metaphors

Metaphors are to compare between two things. They compere two things directly. Metaphors are comparison.

The three main things about a metaphor is the comparison, meaning and the main object.

Example: The mans stomach was a bottom less pit. The comparison is the bottom less pit. The man is the object. The meaning is the man was hungry.

Metaphors help describe things like tired, hungry, sleepy etc.

L.I. to describe things by metaphor.

Numbers in cook island

This week was Cook island language week, Akifa and I made a slide about numbers in cook
island.

Cook island language can be really similar to the Maori language. For example- Rua, Toru, Rima, etc.
I took a video of my self counting the numbers in cook island.

Cook island language is a very special language to be speaking.

I enjoyed this DLO so much, because I have been taught/learnt a new language to speak when counting numbers.

L.I. To write a recount of what I did for Cook island language week.

Swimming l Week 2

This Thursday I went to the pools to swim. My couch was Kelly.

The first skill I practiced was how to float on our back while keeping my face up at the roof.

Then I practiced gliding to do that I made a big push and with my face in the water and with my hands above my head with a straight body.

Lastly I practiced how to rotate from my back to my front with my face in the water while I continued kicking. At the end she thought us how to do arm strokes.

I got better at floating and gliding but I need to improve on my arm strokes`.

L.I. to develop knowledge of water safety.

Similes

Similes is a comparison of two things using "like" or "as...as".

"Like" is a doing word and "as...as" is a  describing word.

An example for "like" similes is, "she ran like the wind."

An example for "as...as" similes is, "she is as cold as ice."

Similes help people write about describing.

Rahi and the Patupaiarehe

This week we were learning to summerise.

We also needed to link Visualisation  and infrensing to help us.
We filled in a story web to summerise each part of the story.
I used my visualization from a week to help separate the parts of the story.

I used my character inferences traits to use adjectives and evidence to help summersie different parts. Using good adjectives  unlocks meaningful information, and I can summerise quicker.

Connecting gall 3 strategies helped me to understand the story, characters and keywords.

L.I. Summarize using Visualising and Inferencing.
