SSR selfie | Gruffalo

SSR Selfie is an activity to read a book and then answering the questions so the reader knows what kind of book it is. SSR Selfie has questions like what the book tittle is, Who the author is, who the illustrator is, main characters etc.

The story I chose was the gruffalo. The gruffalo is about a mouse that tricks predators from eating him by describing the gruffalo.

L.I. to summarise and retell a story.

Gruffalo | Art

For the past weeks the whole class has been working on an art work. The art work the we were working on was the gruffalo.

First we learnt how to blend the colors for parts that needed blending. For example yellow, peach, pink. dark, light blue, green etc.

Then we got into pears of 2 or 3. Then we got a small piece of paper and practiced blending.

Then we all got one big piece of paper and started to color. We all worked on what colors to use to have the right and blending.

At the end the art work look magnificent.

LI: to know how to blend colours with pastels.
LI: to collaborate with others to finish a group art piece.

Daily Routine

For writing I wrote a recount. I chose to do my Tuesday daily recount.

First I listed the things that I do on a Tuesday. There were four events that I listed about before school, at school, after school, and after dinner. After I did that did my recount.

I wrote about what I do before school like showering , waking up eating breakfast etc. Then I wrote on What I did at school. Like Doing work eating lunch etc.

After that I wrote about what did after school. Like Showering, changing etc. Then I wrote on what I did after dinner. Like playing with my siblings. watching videos etc.

L.I. Write a recount of your day.

Rounding

Rounding is a math strategy that uses addition & division strategies. Rounding means making a number easier but keeping its value close to what it was. The answer is less detailed, but easier to use

Addition and division are both operations that are used for rounding. To round, the person needs to find the mean, to find the mean get a set of numbers like 5,7,1,9,3 and then add them altogether which would make 25. Then divide them by the amount of numbers there are which makes 5.

Rounding can help people get better at adding and dividing. Also at understanding how to round numbers in to 1 decimal place.

Safety plan

This week me and my group did a safety plan with fire and food.

First we chose a spot then we picked the class level the class level is what year the students are. Then we wrote down how many helpers there would be. If there are 30 students there would be 3 helpers.

Then we wrote down the hazards and risks. We did 4 hazards and risks. After we wrote down the consequences. We also did 4 consequences. Then we wrote on how we could prevent them. After we wrote on who's responsibility it was. Lastly we did the emergence plan.

This activity was enjoyable because I learnt more fire safety.

Governing Topics

Governing topics are actions that political parties want to put into action when they get into power. The 2 most important things about the Governing topics to me are Health and Education.

Health is keeping people healthy and helping them feel to maintain personal hygiene.

Education means the government is spending money recklessly on schools so people learn new things.

Health is important to me because I can stay healthy and not get sick. Education is also important because it helps me learn new things to understand more.

L.I. To choose important governing topics by summarising all topics.

Risk Assessment

Today my group did a risk assessment form template.

First we wrote in the activity that we chose. Then we did the class level. class level means what year you are.
Then we did the numbers of helpers the numbers of helper is on how many student there are so if there 20 student there will be 2 helpers.

Then we picked the location that we would do. We chose to do Panmure Bright School Fields.
After that we did on what could happend/Consequence.

We did 4 boxes of consequences. Then we Hazards and risks and did 4 boxes for each as well.
Then we wrote on how e could prevent it. After that we wrote down who's responsibility it would be.
After that we did the emergency plan for each one.

I enjoyed doing this task and I learnt how to be safe when going on trips.

Fox - Gorilla | Gruffalo

Rewriting means replacing somethings in a story to see how different the story would be like.

The questions in the story give ideas to help change things and rewrite the story.

The fox was changed to a gorilla because the story would have big change and it would have been interesting. Also because they kinda have the same personality.

Rewriting a story can help have more creativity and be enjoyable.

Gruffalo | Making Connections

The 3 connections are text to self, text to text, and text to world.

Text to self means making a connection on something similar that happend in the book and has happend to you.
Example- The mouse scared predators by describing something. Connection- when someone scared me by describing something.

Text to text means something that also happend in a another story.
Example- the fox tried to convince the mouse to have lunch- connection- The fox in the three little pigs tired to convince them to let him  in there houses.

Text to world means making a connection in the story that happend in real life.
Example- The mouse  though he lied to predators. Connection- people also lie.

Gruffalo | Setting Description

A setting is the environment in a story. It can include what it smells, sounds, feels, and looks like

When describing what a pace looks like, it needs to include adjectives such as dirty, Clean, Fresh etc.

When describing what a place sounds like, it also needs to include adjectives like quiet, loud, and etc.

To describe what a place smells like it needs to include adjectives as rotten, clean, and etc.

To describe what a place feels like it needs to include adjectives as rough, bumpy, uneven, etc.

This strategy can help people get picture inside the readers head as they connect with the four senses.

Assess Likelihood

We learnt about assessing likelihood. The 5 potential risks are: low, likely, possible, elevated, and extreme.

First we rated the situations from 1 to 5 risk of the risk. As a group we discussed what level we thought fit the situation.

Next we wrote down multiple consequences on what would have happened.

After that we made our own situations that are related to that risk level.

We enjoyed this task and it was also hard to make our own situations.

The Gruffalo

This week I did fact and opinion as well as character trait.

For fact and opinion I found facts about each animals in the story the gruffalo and make my own opinion on what I though the animals would act like and there were four boxes for each one.

After that I did the character trait. The character trait was about inferring about the characters and on how they act.

I enjoyed learning about the different characters and how they acted.

Statistic Investigation

Time is a continuing sequence of events happening.

The median is found by organizing a set of numbers from least to greatest and finding the number that falls in the middle, but if there is an even set of numbers, the two numbers are added and then divided by 2. For example: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. The median would be 7.

The mean is found by adding a set of numbers together then dividing the total by how many numbers there are. For example: 7+8+9= 24. 24 divided by 3 is 8. The mean would be 8.

The mode is found by organizing the set of numbers from least to greatest and then finding the number that appears the most. For example: 5, 6, 7, 7, 8. The mode is 7 because 7 appears the most times in the number set.

They measured how long it would take to bounce a basketball 50 times, 5 times each. After they measured the length of their activity, they turned their times into a mean. They also found the median and mode for all of their times.

Hazards and Risks

I learnt about hazards and risks. In a group we thought of risk and hazards for 4 categories.
School
For this category the hazards was playground, scissors, ruler and paint brush. Some of the risks are tripping over, cutting yourself, hitting yourself and getting paint on yourself.
Home
For this category the hazards was fire place, plate, trampoline, and washing machine. Some of the risks are burning yourself, dropping the plate, water coming, and spraining your ankle.
Sport
The hazards were tennis ball, cricket bat, discus, and rippa belt. Some risks are getting hit, hurting yourself, breaking something, and falling.
Community

The hazards were rocks, lightning, pothole, and a plane. Some risks are tripping over the risk, getting struck by lightning, falling into a pothole, and crashing the plane.
At the end I was amazed on how many risks there were and hazards. I fell happy on what learnt this week about risks and hazards.

Character

A character description is about visualizing. Visualizing means creating an image inside the head.

When describing people include 3 main parts; appearance, experience and personality.

Appearance is what they look like, experience is what they do and personality is how they act.

In a character description, people use literal and figurative language. Literal language goes straight to the point. Figurative language means to unlock or find the meaning.

The gruffalo

Visualizing means making an image inside of the head.

The gruffalo is about visualizing to imagine how the grufallo would look like in the head and it was the same with the mouse, fox, owl and snake.

The nogard is also about visualizing. There were incrustations to follow and that helped to imagine what the animal would look like. At the end there would be an image inside of your head of what the animal would have been.
